• About Sanshui

Sanshui is a district under Foshan City . It is located in the middle of the Pearl River Delta. It is rich in resource. Sanshui is named after the three rivers, Xijiang River , Beijiang River and Suijiang River running gahtering in its territory. Sanshui Country is founded in fifths year of Jiajing of Ming Dynasty,i,e.1526. It was authorized as a city in Jan.2003. Sanshui has a territory area of 874sq.km.,a population of 440,000 and an overseas Chinese population of more than 200,000.Sanshiu is a famous "Overseas Chinese’s Hometown".

Sanshui is convenient on transportation.There is Guangzhou to the east and Foshan to the south.There are also Hong Kong and Macao as neighbors.Running through the District,there are Guangzhou- Sanshui Railway, Sanshui-Maoming Railway,321National Highway, 324National Highway,Guangzhou-Sanshui Expressway,Guangzhou-Zhaoqing Expressway.Water transportation is convenient too.There are Sanshui Customs and Sanshui Port. they are paving ways of the blooming import and export business.

With more than 20 years’ reform and ‘open door’ policy, Sanshui has gained great achievements in economic constrction and social construction.National economy is increasing greatly.Basic facilities and investment environment are well developed.The pace of industrialization and urbanization is increasing.In industry,leading by the national famous Jianlibao beverage,there are a series of industrial lines such as beverage,packaging,metal products,plastic products,chemistry,ceramics,motorcycle and textile. Industrial districts and technological districts are setting up one after anothre,which push the private economy forward quickly.Among which Sanshui Central Technological Industrial District, Datang Technological Industrial District and Jiangna Technological Industrial District are listed as important industrial districts by Foshan government. There are 11 enterprises whose annual output value value over 0.1 billion yuan.There are 13 enterprises whose expected annual output over 0.1 billion.The private industrial output of Sanshui is contributing 70 percent to the total industrial output of Sanshui.Agriculture is developing too. Sanshui is awarded “model” by the Ministry of Agriculture.There are a large numbers of ‘three high’ production bases. Among the 100 strongest counties in terms of rural combnation strength, Sanshui ranks 18 th , Sanshui was awarded mode city of sanitation,greenery,physical education,civil administration,broadcasting and television. It was the 3 rd “telephone county/city”,and one of the first experimental “information cities”.

Sanshui is rich in travel resources.There are provincial protected interests,e.g. Lubao Temple,the site of the ancient Yinzhou Beiqiu and Daqitou Ancient Village.There Yundonghai tourism and economy district,Forest Park,Jianlibao Dragon Viewing Tower, Sanshui Hostpring Golf Club,and so on.There are 5 three-plus stars hotels.Obligated education has been carrying out in Sanshui for 12 years. Sanshui is good in educational conditions.There are Guangdong Business University Sanshui Campus, Engineering and Science School and Industrial Polytechnic School.The living enviornment is improving. In central district, residential areas are administrated in small units. The newly constructed Qiye Garden is located in Sanshui Forest Park. Geographical location

Sanshui is located in the middle of Guangdong Province and in the norhtwest of the Pearl River Delta. It has a territory area of 874sq.km. It adjoins Guangzhou to the east, Nanhai to the southeast, Sihui to the northwest, Qingyuan to the north and Gaoyao and Gaoming to the southwest. There is only 35km from its capital town to Guangzhou and 24km to Foshan.

Area and population

Sanshui district consists of 1 street office, 4 towns and two economic districts. They are Xi’nan subdistrict office, Leping town,  Baini town, Lubao town, Datang town, Jingkou Overseas Chinese economic district and Yundonghai tourism and economic district. Sanshui has a population of 440,000 and an Overseas Chinese population of more than 200,000. Sanshui is a famous "Overseas Chinese’s Hometown".

Natural conditions

Sanshui is narrow and long. There are 68km from south to north, 30km from east to west. Northwest of Sanshui is higher with small mountains and low hills. Southeast is lower with alluvial plains and low hills. Sanshui was named after three rivers-- Xijiang River , Beijiang River and Suijiang River , which are running and gathering in its territory. Sanshui has a tropical and monsoon climate. It has long sunshine days and lots of rains It has no intenseheat in summer and bitter cold in winter. Average temperature for the year is about 22 ℃ , rainfall for the year is about 1700mm , and average relative humidity for the year is 80%.

Sanshui has a water-covered area of 250,000mu. The yearly water flow of the main rivers is more than 289 billion cubic meters. The exploited mineral resources include cement limestone, gypsum, clay, stone as material, oil-shale, granite, mineral spring, salt, and so on.
