Sanshui Harbor
Sanshui Harbor , the key project of Sanshui City ¡¯s Ninth Five-Year Plan, is a cargo service harbor, located in Markou Section of Xijiang River ( West River ), the ¡°Golden Waterway¡± under the jurisdiction of Sanshui City . It has good natural conditions of water and land areas, with a 2000-meter-long available waterfront, 1500-2000-metre-waid-river surface and 8-20 meter-deep water. Its construction is carried out according to the principle of general layout, implementation in steps and construction in phases. The first phase is scheduled to build 26.80 hectares of harbor area, with a yearly handling capacity of 2000 tons; one 160-metre-long multipurpose berth, about 120,000 square meters of container stocking yard, over 8,000 square meters of warehouse, nearly 6,000 square meters of union inspection building and other improved conveyance system including three gantry cranes, a batch of entrance derricks, fork-lifts etc. as well as 30,000 square meters of special installations for housing cold-storage and dangerous articles, enabling the harbor to berth 3,000-5,000 tonnage ships.
Sanshui Harbor is superior in geographic location, along the Xijiang River water route, leading to Zhaoqing and Wuzhou cities, along Beijiang ( North River ), towards the cities of Qingyuan and Shaoguan. It is 114 nautical miles away from HongKong, only 98 nautical miles from Macao . The harbor situated at the cross point of Guangzhou-Sanshui and Guangzhou-Zhaoqing Express Ways, joins No.321 National Highway, Guangzhou-Sanshui, Sanshui-Maoming Railways and West Sanshui Railway Goods Yard, forming a convenient network of water and land transportation.

Union Service Of Waterway and Railway
The West Sanshui Goods Yard, situated at Hekou Town, Sanshui City of the Pearl River Delta, close to No.321 National Highway, one Km from the entrance of Guangzhou- Sanshui Highway and 10Km from Sanshui Harbor, is a convenient, large-scale comprehensive goods yard belonging to Sanmao Railway Co. Ltd. The mother company of Sanshui Harbor , the Communication Base Construction Group of Sanshui City , accounts for 50% stocks of the Goods Yards, as is good for internally co-ordinating the development of union service of waterway and railway. Its 24-hour businesses includes the arrival and departure of complete, bulks, cooling and 5-ton, 10-ton, 20-foot, 40-foot containers.

Beverage and food industry are well developed. Sanshui is the largest beverage production base of China . It has all annual production capacity of 500,000 tons. Jianlibao brand series soft drinks and Qingdao beer are good sellers. Construction material is forming its scale. Sanshui is one of the top construction materials production bases. It has an annual production capacity of producing 5 million tons of cement, 0.1billion square meters of ceramic bricks. Packaging industry of Sanshui has an annual production capacity of easy-pull-can 1.3 billion sets, three-piece-can 0.65 billion sets, beverage plastic bottles 0.12 billion sets and all kinds of paper boxes 0.11 billion square meters. In steel plate industry, Nanfang Group introduced a world advanced hot galvanized iron production line. It is the third hot galvanized iron production line imported to China after Wuhan Steel and Baoshan Steel.
There are more than 20 multi-functional markets with total area 150,000 square meters. There are also numbers of local specialized markets.
In year 2002, the social goods sales in Sanshui amounted 4.661 billion Yuan, consumer goods sales amounted 3.959 billion Yuan, sales of markets amounted 1.129 billion Yuan. Deposit in year-end amounted 13.671 billion Yuan, among which bank deposit amounted 8.293 billion Yuan. The year-end loan balance amounted 8.918 billion Yuan.
Insurance industry is developing stably. The social insurance system is developing. Most employees of the enterprises are provided with retirement insurance and medical insurance.
Infrastructure
Sanshui is convenient in water and land transportation. It is close to Hong Kong and Macao . It plays a key role on connecting northwest Guangdong and southwest China to the Pearl River Delta. It is also a distribution center of goods and trade. Running through the District, there are Guangzhou-Sanshui Railway, Sanshui-Maoming Railway, 321 National Highway , 324 National Highway , Guangzhou -Sanshui Expressway, Guangzhou-Zhaoqing Expressway. Water transportation is convenient too. There are two container ports. Cargos are going between Sanshui and Hong Kong everyday. There is Sanshui Customs, import and export tax protected house-ware, inspect station and a large railway house-ware. Sanshui Port is one of the most important ports in Guangdong province. It is suitable for 3,000 tons cargo ships.
Telecommunication is developing rapidly. Sanshui is one of the earliest districts common use program-controlled telephone and network. It is the third "telephone city" of Guangdong .
Power and water
Sanshui has sufficient water and power resources. Except for the provincial power network, there are 4 power stations in Sanshui with power capacity of 200,000kw. 90-100% of the residents are using tap water. It has a water supply capacity of 230,000 tons per day.
Import and export are increasing stably. By the end of 2002, there were 518 foreign investment enterprises with total investment USD2.572 billion, among which foreign part contributed USD 1.48 billion. Foreign capital used USD0.801 billion. Foreign investment in-put is changing from focusing on industry to focusing on industry, agriculture, tourism and transportation facilities, Investments are coming from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, England, Thailand, America, Malaysia, and so on.
